Best For

Specific painful knots, chronic tension headaches, myofascial pain syndrome.

Therapeutic Botox

Botulinum toxin injections to relax overactive muscles and treat chronic conditions like spasticity, dystonia, and chronic migraines by blocking nerve signals.

Best For

Chronic muscle spasms, dystonia, chronic migraines, spasticity.

PRP Therapy

Platelet-Rich Plasma injections to accelerate healing in muscle tears and strains. Uses your own growth factors to repair tissue naturally.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about muscle injections
What are trigger point injections?
Trigger point injections treat painful “knots” in muscles that can cause local pain and referred pain elsewhere in the body. The injection contains local anesthetic (sometimes with a small amount of steroid) to relax the knot, improve blood flow, and break the pain cycle. This allows the muscle to lengthen and heal.
Ultrasound allows us to visualize the muscle layers, locate the exact area of injury or spasm, and avoid nerves and blood vessels. This ensures the medication is delivered precisely where it’s needed for maximum safety and effectiveness, especially for deep muscles like the piriformis or iliopsoas.
Most muscle injections are well-tolerated. We use a fine needle and local anesthetic. You may feel a brief “twitch” response when a trigger point is stimulated, which is actually a good sign that the right spot has been treated. Afterward, the muscle usually feels more relaxed.
This varies by condition and treatment type. Trigger point injections can provide relief for weeks to months, often permanently if combined with physiotherapy to address the underlying cause. Botox injections typically last 3-4 months. PRP supports permanent tissue healing over several months.
For trigger point injections, you can usually resume light activity the next day. For PRP or treatment of muscle tears, you will need a period of relative rest and guided rehabilitation to allow the tissue to heal properly. Your specialist will provide a specific recovery plan.
Dry needling uses a solid needle without medication to stimulate trigger points. Injection therapy delivers medication (anesthetic, steroid, etc.) directly into the muscle. Injections are often more comfortable during the procedure and can provide more potent, longer-lasting anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects.
Common side effects include temporary soreness or bruising at the injection site (1-2 days). Serious complications like infection or nerve injury are extremely rare, especially with ultrasound guidance. We discuss all potential risks during your consultation.
Many patients get significant relief from a single session. For chronic conditions like myofascial pain syndrome, a series of 2-3 treatments spaced a few weeks apart may be recommended to break the chronic pain cycle permanently.
